Traveling The World With Little Passports-World Edition

What child doesn't love traveling or at least pretend that they are traveling the world?!  I know Roo absolutely LOVES maps and is fascinated with looking at maps to find where she needs to go next!  She enjoys going on treasure hunts and letting her self-made maps lead her to her treasures.  Although sometimes she likes to say, "Let me put it in my GPS and see where we go next!"  So she's a little old-school and a little tech-savvy at the same time! Roo gets a lot of exposure from my sister traveling here to the Bay Area from Hong Kong and sees all her suitcases packed along with a passport.  So when Roo got her very first shipment from Little Passports, she was more than ecstatic to find that she got her own passport, suitcase, boarding pass, map and more! We elected to have the World edition of the Little Passports subscription service so that Roo can learn more about other cultures.  The World edition is actually for kids ages 5-10 years old while their USA edition is geared … [Read more...]

Legoland: Every Child’s Dream Come True

I can't believe that summer came and went so quickly!  I am just now getting to post about our 2 week vacation in Southern California and we had such a blast!  I can't wait to share all of it with you! So our first attraction in Southern California was Legoland California and it was our family's very first time there!  I had no idea what to expect and where to go but I was glad that we had friends who were Legoland veterans who could show us around. I'm pretty sure every child, boy or girl, young or the previously young, have owned a Lego set at some point.  We've all played with it, built things, imagined the things we wanted to build with it, stuck a few pieces in places that required tweezers to retrieve (yes my younger sister stuck one up her nose), stepped on some, and more.  But the fun doesn't stop when you grow up, I know quite a few adults who still buy Legos and not just for their kids, but some more advance sets for themselves!  Now who hasn't dreamed of building life-size … [Read more...]

Cheap & Easy Father’s Day Gift: DIY Toilet Paper Roll Dad Doll

If you are a procrastinator like me, you probably need a quick and easy Father's Day craft for the kids!  This is quick, easy, and cheap and you probably already have it lying around in your bathroom.  I do like to try and be resourceful and think of ways to use things that could be thrown out as garbage.  Which is why I have a million toilet paper rolls laying around the house because I am trying to figure out ways to utilize them.  So we had Father's Day crafting time yesterday and this is the result:   So Roo helped me pick out all the colors and told me what was missing as I implemented the ideas.  She even said he needed hands!  I think I even got his hair down?!  I think my little dude shows some resemblance to Honey...don't you think?!  Well, I just need to give him some glasses and we'll be all set, maybe I will add them with some wire!   I used pipe cleaners for the arms, construction paper for the hair, belt, and pants, patterned paper for the shirt and tie and … [Read more...]

So I just shared about the Airplane themed Valentines Printables and now I'd like to share with you the Stuck On You Valentines Printable!  Yup, yup, I am most definitely a procrastinator so I didn't start making these printables until last night!  I found some sticky hand toys in a bin full of old Halloween favors (yup the same bin as the airplanes) and decided to make something to coordinate with them.  I got those favors from Oriental Trading and had an excess of them so now it's come to use!  But what's great about this printable is that you can use it with other types of favors too besides the sticky hand toys, like stickers, bubble gum and if you want to use it for an adult or someone who loves crafts...WASHI TAPE!  I love washi tape, anyone want to give me a valentine with washi tape?! Check out my other free Valentines printables like the Airplane themed ones and the other ones from last year, "Color My World." Princess Sophia Costume & DIY Princess Purse

So previously I shared 2 posts about Kiggster's Halloween outfits. The DIY Ladybug costume when she was one and the DIY Bat Wings that she wore for one of the Halloween parties.  Kiggster's final Halloween costume that year, per her request, was to be Princess Sophia from the Disney Junior show Sophia The First.  I know it is quite a bit after Halloween but I figured it's still a nice dress up costume for anytime of the year!  I had someone make the dress, but I made her a princess treat bag and also a super nice amulet just like the one that Princess Sophia owned.  Well, as you will see in the pictures, she is not wearing an amulet because a couple days before Halloween, she wears the necklace out and loses it!  I am so sad, I had spent some time on it and she looked so cute with it on too but I never even got a picture of her with it!  But on a positive note, the Princess Treat Bag (tutorial at the bottom of post) turned out pretty well and Kiggster really liked it!  Wasn't she the … [Read more...]

Cirque Dreams Holidaze In San Francisco Until 12/15

When I first heard about Cirque Dreams Holidaze, I wasn't sure what to expect but watching their preview video clip (watch it at the bottom of this post) gave me some idea.  The show is intended for audiences of all ages, children included and so once I saw that, I knew I wanted to bring Kiggster with me for her very first theater experience!  She is 3 years old and most shows at the theater don't allow them in until around 5 so I jumped on the opportunity to take her on a date with me.  We headed for the Curran Theater on Wednesday evening for the opening night and started our adventure. The show was non-stop action from the time the curtains opened to the end, except for the short intermission in between.  I loved that the acrobatic performances were all set to a theme with a coordinating holiday song.  Each performance, there were about 20+, was different from the next and even while there were main performers, there was tons of activity going on around the main performers.  Which … [Read more...]

The Christmas Angel Review & Giveaway-Ends 12/15

Wow, I can't believe it's December and I am writing a post that is Christmas related!  Time is flying by too fast.  So for the last 2 years, I have actually been looking into something like the Elf On The Shelf (EOTS), where kids can look forward to finding a surprise in the morning.  However, I never brought myself to make the purchase for one because I didn't like the message/purpose of the EOTS.  I didn't like that the elf was supposed to be Santa's messenger keeping tabs on children and if they were "good" they got gifts and if they were "bad" they didn't get anything.  I wanted Kiggster to behave not for gifts but because she loves and respects us.  Also, I hated thinking that EOTS always seemed to be a naughty elf who was checking up on all the kids but setting a bad example?!  So I was thinking of making the purchase this year but using the doll in my own way. Well, in searching for the right vendor to purchase it from, I came across The Christmas Angel and fell in love! The … [Read more...]

Cute DIY Bat Costume

So I shared about the costumes I had for Kiggster the last 2 years in my previous post.  We went to a Halloween party this past Friday and put her in one of her 2 costumes.  This year, she requested to be Princess Sophia and then not long after that, she requested to be a bat.  Since we were going to be attending a few Halloween events, I decided it was ok to have 2 costumes for her! First one she wore was... The Bat!  She was so excited when I first made her the wings.  I had found some nice velvet material at my mom's house and used a tutorial I found on Pinterest for DIY Bat Wings.  I think it turned out pretty nicely, despite my lack of reading and following directions!  I would have preferred them longer but I was still really happy with it and there seems to be no complaints from Kiggster! Oh and we love getting our faces painted too!  Why yes, that's a halloween bat and a "princess face" painted on her! Hope you all have a great time this Thursday! Happy Halloween!!! … [Read more...]
