Cheap & Easy Father’s Day Gift: DIY Toilet Paper Roll Dad Doll

If you are a procrastinator like me, you probably need a quick and easy Father's Day craft for the kids!  This is quick, easy, and cheap and you probably already have it lying around in your bathroom.  I do like to try and be resourceful and think of ways to use things that could be thrown out as garbage.  Which is why I have a million toilet paper rolls laying around the house because I am trying to figure out ways to utilize them.  So we had Father's Day crafting time yesterday and this is the result:   So Roo helped me pick out all the colors and told me what was missing as I implemented the ideas.  She even said he needed hands!  I think I even got his hair down?!  I think my little dude shows some resemblance to Honey...don't you think?!  Well, I just need to give him some glasses and we'll be all set, maybe I will add them with some wire!   I used pipe cleaners for the arms, construction paper for the hair, belt, and pants, patterned paper for the shirt and tie and … [Read more...]

Kiggster’s 1st Day of Preschool: Mama Jitters & A Bento Lunch

OMG, when did Kiggster get old enough to start Preschool?!  Technically, she's not really starting Preschool Preschool but it's close enough.  I decided when I started staying home with Kiggster last year that I would also try to homeschool her.  I have no idea where to start with that but I figured if she was anything like me in personality and learning style, she would probably not be a "go-to-school" kinda girl.  She seems to love learning just through everyday life, our daily activities with tid bits infused into it.  She doesn't learning her numbers through me drilling it into her but rather through us singing songs in the car, counting the steps as we walk up and down flights of stairs, etc.  Now she knows her numbers and colors in two languages and even some in ASL and that was all through us living life.  I want her to love learning and not dread it.  I used to be an avid reader...up until there became required reading and I no longer loved it and haven't really been able to … [Read more...]

SoftBums Omni Shell & Super Pods Review & Giveaway

So I have definitely been on the look out for a good night time diaper for Kiggster because she tends to have these "epic" leakages at night, maybe because she drinks most of her liquids at night time rather than day time.  For most of her diapers, I have to double insert the pocket diapers and even sometimes that still isn't quite enough.  So when I was given the chance to do a review of the SoftBums Omni Shell, I jumped at the chance to review their Super Pod!  I chose the SoftBums Omni Velcro Shell with the Super Pod insert in the Giraffe print. So what makes SoftBums stand out from the rest?! SoftBums Omni Features: SoftBums Patent Pending Slide²Size is the ONLY variable adjustment of its kind Fits all legs widths from 4" - 14" for NO red marks EVER.  Made in the USA! Smartipants Cloth Diaper Review & Giveaway

I was given the opportunity to review the Smartipants line of cloth diapers and I received the one in Bubble Gum Pink!  The picture below is supposed to be the bubble gum pink but the diaper I received looked more like a hot pink color. I've mentioned this previously in my last cloth diaper review but I thought it should be mentioned again.  Kiggster is only about 20 pounds and even when she was about 15+ pounds, her one size diapers were already getting what seemed too snug for her around her cute little thighs.  Therefore, we had to retire many of her one size diapers (several brands) and for the rest of her one size diapers in our current stash, she is in the largest settings.  So even though those other one size diapers are advertised to fit up to 30-40+ pounds, she already "outgrew" them in her thighs!  Smartipants is supposed to fit newborns to toddlers from 7-35 lbs.  I was a little worried that she wouldn't fit it but when I … [Read more...]

Willow Store: Organic Super Wipes Review & Giveaway

I was given the opportunity to review the Organic Super Wipes from Willow Store.  Oh, what a difference from our current stash of "wipes" that we have in our home!   So when I was pregnant with Kiggster, I wanted to try out cloth wipes and thought since we had a ton of new washcloths in our home, I could just use those instead of buying new or specialty wipes.  Boy was I wrong!  There's something about washcloths for a face of an adult and washcloths for those tender baby tushies and faces that just doesn't compare.  Those washcloths didn't make it through about a handful  of diaper changes and face washings before Honey decided they were too rough and sand paper-like to be used on his precious little daughter!  I had to agree with him and those washcloths became more of rags now.  But we ditched the whole cloth wipes idea after that.  Then 18 months later, I was offered a chance to review these Organic Super Wipes … [Read more...]

Baby Babu Cloth Diaper Review & Giveaway

I was given the opportunity to review the Baby Babu Cloth Pocket One Size Minky Diaper in the Abstract Brown Fuzzy print.  I have to say, I really like minky material, it's so soft and fuzzy but oh so buttery at the same time!  Things that I noticed that were different right off the bat with the Baby Babu diaper: There are 2 openings on the diaper, one on each end. The included insert has a snap on one end to help hold it in place Double gussets to help prevent "blow-outs" 3 snap closure So something to note about our current diaper stash is that Kiggster is already on the largest settings of all our one-size diapers and she is no where close to the maximum weight guideline.  She is currently around 21 pounds (a tad shy of it) but she has these awesome, super cute thighs that just don't fit well into most diapers.  We retired some one-size diapers in the past because it was so tight around her thighs it would leave these deep red … [Read more...]
