Kiggster’s 1st Day of Preschool: Mama Jitters & A Bento Lunch

OMG, when did Kiggster get old enough to start Preschool?!  Technically, she's not really starting Preschool Preschool but it's close enough.  I decided when I started staying home with Kiggster last year that I would also try to homeschool her.  I have no idea where to start with that but I figured if she was anything like me in personality and learning style, she would probably not be a "go-to-school" kinda girl.  She seems to love learning just through everyday life, our daily activities with tid bits infused into it.  She doesn't learning her numbers through me drilling it into her but rather through us singing songs in the car, counting the steps as we walk up and down flights of stairs, etc.  Now she knows her numbers and colors in two languages and even some in ASL and that was all through us living life.  I want her to love learning and not dread it.  I used to be an avid reader...up until there became required reading and I no longer loved it and haven't really been able to … [Read more...]

OMG, our little baby is 2 today!  Where has the time gone and what happened to my 6lb 1.5oz baby?!  Kiggster has grown so much and I love seeing all the new things she's been doing and saying.  Honey and I could not be more amazed with our wonderful little sweetheart!  I promise to share her milestone updates with you since the last one I did was like back in May...let me tell you, she has grown A LOT since then! Below is a picture from her birthday party on Sunday and more will be coming shortly!  Thanks to all our family and friends that celebrated that special day with us and helping us to build such amazing memories!  Kiggster is lucky to have you all in her life and so are we, thank you for all of you supporting and loving us so much through every step of this journey! I also thought it would be a good time to look over Kiggster's birth story and our journey of her coming into our lives.  I love looking at our photo book and reflecting … [Read more...]

Kangaroo Mama is Forging a New Path

It seems like it's been awhile since I last posted something "personal" on here.  I think my last one was New Beginnings: Light At The End Of The Tunnel and I had just made the decision to resign from my position at my job so that I could stay home with Kiggster.  I have to say, that was probably the best decision I could have made because I actually felt a small load get lifted from my shoulders.  Although, at that time, Honey and I still weren't too sure what we wanted our future to look like, except for the fact that we wanted Kiggster to be raised into a godly young woman and for us to strengthen the foundation of our marriage.  So I continued to keep the doors open for new opportunities career-wise but not actively seeking for it.  Although it seemed like recruiters were calling me left and right with the "perfect" opportunities…you know, the ones that didn't arise when I was trying to escape from my old job?!  … [Read more...]

New Beginnings: Light At The End Of The Tunnel

Thank you so much to all of you for your support, prayers and thoughts for me after I shared about some things going on for me in my "How Does One Find Hope In A Hopeless Situation?"  It was so nice reading your comments and seeing your messages.  I am so grateful for having such an amazing Honey, wonderful Kiggster, awesome family and friends, loyal and encouraging fans, and supportive bloggy friends!  Through everyone's support, encouragement and prayers, Honey and I were able to come together and make the decision for me to resign my position at work!  It was a hard but also easy decision to make at the same time.  What was hard was thinking about how we would be so crushed financially since majority of our earnings comes from this job and our medical insurance comes from there too.  It provided a stable income and I'd spent 3 years at this job trying to build up my career, set myself up hopefully to be promoted, etc.  But we … [Read more...]

(in)spired Deals Review: Blessings of Being A Mom

I was recently given the opportunity to do a review for Dayspring and I was super excited about it.  I got to pick from several items and I ended up receiving my top choice, the Good Things Teacup and Tote set!   Dayspring's vision statement is: Connecting people with the heart of God through messages of hope and encouragement every day, everywhere. In this review, we were asked to share a little about the following: Share with us how the mom in your life has blessed you. If you are a mom, how has it changed you? What blessings did you never expect from being a mom? I shared on Mother's Day about my mom's story and how she's inspired me.  You can read that here!  I feel my mom has been an inspiration for me through her courage and strength to face her trials and challenges head on.  I am learning from her to be grateful for what I have in my life and enjoy what stage I am in, even if it is not where I want to be.  Being a … [Read more...]

Happy Mother’s Day, Mommy!

Shared via Flickr Happy Mothers Day to Kangaroo Mama's Mama!!!  I love you Mommy and I am so grateful for all that you have been through and yet still love with all your heart.  Someone that I truly admire and am inspired by is my mother, Kiggster's Po-Po. She may say she's not very educated, doesn't have much to offer, and not very talented but that's her Asian submissiveness/humility/craziness speaking and all that is not even close to the truth. Though she may not have graduated from college, her skills, talent and the inspiration she gives to those around her surpass those of even one with an PhD.   She's been through so much in her life and she could have given up but instead she pushed through and persevered despite what the outcomes looked like or how bleak the future looked.  or those of you who don't know her, here's her story... Me & My Mommy Po-Po immigrated here to the US in her teens, without a lick of English … [Read more...]

Do Moms Get Competitive About Their Kids?!

Shared via Flickr It seems competitiveness doesn't just describe professional working folks and their ambition but maybe even moms and their babies!  Do babies care if the baby next to them is 2 inches taller even though they are a month younger than them?  Do babies talk about how many teeth they have growing and if it's weird that they're coming out in singles rather than pairs?  What about formula vs breastfed, cloth diapers vs disposables, homemade baby food vs jar/can/package/store-bought food, baby-wearing vs stroller, co-sleeping vs crib and tons of other things?!  I highly doubt my 18 month old Kiggster cares a smidgen if Baby X, Y, or Z is eating their broccoli, pooping in the potty, talking up a storm, walking like a pro, or has a full head of Pantene commercial-worthy hair! You can read about Kiggster's lack of hair and interesting haircut here! I actually don't even think Dads care about those things either, at least Honey … [Read more...]
