Princess Sophia Costume & DIY Princess Purse

DSC_0039

So previously I shared 2 posts about Kiggster's Halloween outfits. The DIY Ladybug costume when she was one and the DIY Bat Wings that she wore for one of the Halloween parties.  Kiggster's final Halloween costume that year, per her request, was to be Princess Sophia from the Disney Junior show Sophia The First.  I know it is quite a bit after Halloween but I figured it's still a nice dress up costume for anytime of the year!  I had someone make the dress, but I made her a princess treat bag and also a super nice amulet just like the one that Princess Sophia owned.  Well, as you will see in the pictures, she is not wearing an amulet because a couple days before Halloween, she wears the necklace out and loses it!  I am so sad, I had spent some time on it and she looked so cute with it on too but I never even got a picture of her with it!  But on a positive note, the Princess Treat Bag (tutorial at the bottom of post) turned out pretty well and Kiggster really liked it!  Wasn't she the … [Read more...]

Carrot-Shaped Calzone Recipe & Night Time Egg Hunting

Carrot-Shaped Calzones

We had a fun pre-Easter party on Friday and had our very first night time egg hunt!  It was a potluck and when I asked Honey what Easter themed dish I should bring, he said, "Rabbit!"  Um…no thanks Honey!  I definitely don't want to be remembered as the rabbit killer so the next best thing were Carrot-Shaped Calzones!  I found my inspiration on Pinterest and used this recipe from Inspired By Familia but I changed a couple things around.  Ingredients:  Pillsbury Pizza Dough Sausage Meat Spinach Bag of Shredded Broccoli & Carrots Parmesan Cheese Mexican Cheese Blend Stalks of Parsley for Decoration Italian Seasoning Basically I followed the instructions from Inspired By Familia except mine didn't quite come out quite as pretty looking!  I think mine turned out more rounded because I used bulkier ingredients like sausage instead of pepperoni.  I did nix the orange dye so that I could … [Read more...]

Beauty Bargains & Tips

HPIM2180

I am so excited to introduce you all to Kristin from I Delight In You who will be sharing some beauty products with us from her very own personal collection and routine. I can't wait to try out some of those products because my skin and hair has been neglected for way too long! Greetings and salutations.  I am honored that Kathy has invited me to guest post for her today.  My name is Kristin and you can find me at IDelightinyou.  I write about life, faith, crafting, beauty, music, and anything else I can imagine.  Today Kathy has asked me to share some beauty tips with you. I'm a big advocate for health and natural beauty, and I am a licenced esthetician so I do alot of research on things I use.  Allergies have played a role in my life since I was little, so I do alot of label reading to search for chemicals and known allergens on product labels.   The shops I mention today are at home businesses run by great women that I have had … [Read more...]

Healthy Cheese Pretzel Recipe

I am very excited to have invited Corinna from The Sweet Spot here to share a yummy and easy recipe.  Hope you all will enjoy making it, I think I'm going to have to try this next week! When I was 12 years old, I learned how to make this healthy cheese pretzel recipe. Our neighbors across the street sent me to babysitting school with the hopes that I would become their ultimate babysitter. One of the things that really stuck with me was the importance of feeding growing children healthy snacks. The instructor taught us how to make this cheese pretzel recipe and I have been making it ever since. This recipe is so simple and you probably have all the ingredients in your pantry already! 'My kids' loved two pretzels and half an apple for an afternoon snack. I hope your kids enjoy it too! Healthy Cheese Pretzels 1 package active dry yeast 2 cups flour, plus more for dusting 2 tsp sugar 3/4 cup cheddar cheese, grated egg wash (1 egg, … [Read more...]

DIY Upcycled Crayons Tutorial

DIY Upcycled Crayons Tutorial 300

This project can involve toddlers but would probably be better suited for an older child if you want them taking part in the whole thing. Since I didn't want to give candy as I was sure there would be plenty going around already, I decided to go for homemade crayons, just like the ones I'd seen on Pinterest...oh yeah, Pinterest addict here!  I did end up doing some revisions to the ones I saw online and if you go on pinterest and do a search for recycled crayons, you will pull up a ton of different sources.  I didn't have tiny oven-safe silicone molds and I also could not find them in stores so I had to improvise on the tutorials that I found.  Since this is a project that involved an oven, wax, and melting stuff, I made sure I read all the directions and went the conservative route!  This is what I ended up with and you'll see some * signs for lessons learned after the activity. Supplies: Around 20 broken or unused crayons, I had a mixture of … [Read more...]

If you've been around this blog for awhile, you'll know I love animated movies, probably more than kids do.  I'm all about the animation, tween drama, and innocent humor!  So when I heard about Escape From Planet Earth, I had to check out what it was all about.  When I watched the trailer, it already had me laughing and just itching to see more.  I read the synopsis and found out that Brendan Fraser was part of the cast...I have to say, I really like movies that he's in because most of them are really funny but don't involve adult or dirty humor!  I can't wait to see it when it releases on February 15th and since Honey is such a sci-fi fanatic, I am sure he will love watching it too!  Below you will find the movie synopsis, trailer, free Valentine's Day printables and a GIVEAWAY!!!!  You can enter and find details for the giveaway at the bottom of this posting! Miessence: DeepGreen Alkalising Superfood Review

DeepGreen

Am I the only one that seems to have trouble getting the family to eat enough vegetables?!  It seems no matter what we try Kiggster's first choice foods are noodles, rice, and popcorn and Honey's are chili mangoes and chai tea.  Sometimes we can get a couple bites of veggies in Kiggster and sometimes meat but it's unpredictable when she wants them.  So I needed to look for alternative methods to deliver those veggies in the least painful way possible!  That's when I discovered Miessence's Deep Green Alkalising Superfood. Keeping the correct pH balance in our bodies is vital for ongoing good health.  Failing to keep that balance can result in loss of minerals that results in reduced bone density associated with osteoporosis. A body which is too acidic has been linked to other conditions including athersclerosis, kidney and gallbladder stones and arthritis. Deep Green Alkalising is the solution. Made from the freeze dried juices … [Read more...]

Fundraising For Anti-Bullying Campaigns: Slap Dash Things Jewelry By a 10 Year Old!

stopbullying3

I was recently introduced to a shop called Slap Dash Things that was started by an 11 year-old girl with the help of her mom and I was definitely touched by the inspiration behind her starting her fundraising efforts.  Jenelle understands first hand about being bullied and instead of retreating, she has taken action to fundraise money for anti-bullying efforts!  I wish I had the courage to do something like this when I was growing up but instead I allowed depression and insecurities take over me.  I remember middle school years being the worst years for me, where the verbal bullying was so bad that all I wanted to ever do was stay home and avoid school.  I remember it happening during class one time and the teacher heard so she asked the 3 boys to formulate an apology.  When it was time for their apology, they all stood up in front of class and sang a song...making fun of me and calling me names instead.  So the teacher didn't know what to do … [Read more...]
