Just Between Friends San Mateo Consignment Sale: October 5-7th

About a week ago, I told you all about a huge consignment sale called Just Between Friends that is the biggest children's and maternity consignment sale!  I talked about being a consignor and selling at Just Between Friends (JBF) but this time, I get to tell you all about being a customer at JBF!  I had the chance to go to the sale at 2:30pm on Thursday, October 4th and show you all the goodies that are currently up for grabs at the sale!  Before I show you what people are consigning, I wanted to share a little bit more about the JBF sale.  But I will tease you with this photo below first:

So the JBF San Mateo sale is going on right now from Friday, October 5th-Sunday, October 7th.  The sale opens to the public starting Friday, October 5th at 9am at the San Mateo County Event Center.  However, they have pre-sale hours on Thursday, October 4th where 1st time parents, military, and teachers can shop starting at 6pm.  Those that consign get to shop starting at 5pm and the more hours you volunteer for the JBF sale (they have lots of volunteer opportunities even before the sale starts), you can shop as early as 2:30pm.  Then on Sunday, many items will be marked at 50% off (at the discretion of the consignor) so you can score some really good deals!  This year, the San Mateo Event Center (not JBF) is charging for parking at $10/car so try to park nearby the event center on the street (maybe around El Camino or 25th Street)!

Prices will vary a little since different consignors mark items at different price points but there is a pricing guideline so many things are marked around the same price.  I was able to find some awesome steals within the clothing racks where things were bundles all together for a good price!  There is everything you can think of at this sale: toys for boys and girls, clothes from newborn to size 16 for both genders, shoes, furniture such as bassinetts, pack and play, changing tables, toddler beds, Halloween costumes, outdoor games, bathroom accessories, room decor, safety items such as baby gates, potty benches, breast pumps, etc.  There are even vendors booths there for photography, babysitting services, online activity and events calendar, Barbie clothes, and knit dresses.  You even have the chance to win an iPad from one of the vendors there: Chatterblock when you sign up for their newsletter!

Could you use some nursing gear, maternity wear, baby carriers or what about this awesome Dutailer glider with locking mechanism marked at only $150?!

There are also a bunch of NEW and UNOPENED Melissa and Doug items available at the sale and they are marked at 1/2 price from retail!  They make great gifts and there are things like wooden cars, blocks, puzzles, coloring books, stickers, and much more!  I snagged myself some for gifts too!

Now on to what you can score or technically, what I scored, at the sale and how much I spent!

The picture is just a sampling of what I bought!  I scored 2 Halloween costumes (yes, I needed 2 for 1 child), 4 sets of PJs, 1 dress, 1 Board Book, Bowling Set, Animal Flashlight,  brand new Alphabet Books with bag, 2 NEW pocket cloth diapers, raincoat, kid's umbrella, brand new hat w/mittens, brand new dress with matching leggings-super cute, the cutest red capelet, fuzzy white indoor boots-looked almost brand new, Brand New Melissa and Doug Reusable Sticker Sets, Dress Up Magnets, Paint With Water Book and Washable Ink Animal Stampers, plus I got a HUGE box of wooden food!  My total spent: $217 but majority of the cost came from the box of wooden food ($35) and all the new Melissa and Doug items that I purchased for gifts and for Kiggster!  Make sure you head off to the sale and I hope you score yourself some great steals too!  Don't forget, if you go tomorrow to the sale, be sure to print out the free admission pass below and park on the street to save $10 on parking in the lot!

I wish I had a store like that by me.

I testify to how excited Kathy was to bring home her JBF finds. She asked me a little guiltily about how much I thought she spent – but for the quality and amount, I'm really glad she went for us. And yes, I am proud of you honey for only buying half the stuff you wanted. Crazy that you need to be there early for the good stuff, but it beats any Black Friday sale!
