With smartphones, tablets, and touchscreen TVs/computers being all the craze out there, it's no wonder that toys are even being introduced with similar touch technology! I was fortunate enough to be able to host a party with LeapFrog to introduce their new Touch Magic line of toys to local families.
We received 2 of the Touch Magic Rockin' Guitars and the Touch Magic Learning Bus. At the party, we had toddlers in the 1 1/2 – 3 years old age range, then it jumps to 4th and 5th graders (siblings of the younger ones) so we were putting these toys to the test for durability, entertainment, and wow-factor! Both the Rockin' Guitar and the Learning Bus are really lightweight, weighing at about 1.5 lbs so it's great for the little ones to carry around themselves.
The Rockin' Guitar features:
- Guitar, percussion and special effect sounds-even applause.
- Ten different learning songs that let little musicians layer in sounds and create their own unique music.
When the kids (young and older kids) saw the Rockin' Guitar, they all ran towards it to play and good thing 2 were provided for the party! Even the adults started getting into rockin' out in the guitar with their kids. When the song starts playing on the guitar, if they strummed the guitar strings, it would speed up the song, then they could touch the percussion button and it would add in the drums and if you wanted applause, they could touch that button too! Kids could play together with multiple guitars and it would be just as fun as playing solo!
The Learning Bus features:
- Alphabet, early vocabulary, motor skills, and learning songs.
- Make a movement or touch a sensor to activate the bus and get the learning journey rolling.
- Switch between 3 modes: Learning, Letter Exploration and Music, which includes fun sing-along songs about the alphabet, motion and more.
At first, it seemed all the kids were most interested in the Rockin' Guitar but then the parents were curious what the Learning Bus did so they started playing with it and really liked the Learning Bus because it was educational. It taught you the alphabet, words associated with the alphabet, etc. However, if you just wanted to play, there is a mini piano at the bottom of the bus that you can play to make music. Once the kids heard their parent's playing with the Learning Bus, hearing the songs and music, they began to be interested and wanted to play with the Learning Bus too! Even older kids that I thought were "too old" for the toy and alphabet learning were still very entertained by the Learning Bus!
There's even a contest going on right now until November 30th where you can submit a video of your child rockin' out on the Touch Magic Rockin' Guitar or your own play guitar and get people to vote for your video. The top 5 videos with the most votes and panel selections will have the chance to win $500 gift cards. People can vote daily but there's also weekly drawings for those that vote for a chance to win Touch Magic toys valued at $100. Come submit your video and/or vote for your favorite one here!
The LeapFrog Touch Magic products can be purchased directly on the LeapFrog website. Both the Rockin' Guitar and Learning Bus retails for $24.99 each.
